The "Smithville Review", Smithville, DeKalb County, Tennessee, February 22, 1940, Smithson, Carrie. IN MEMORY OF MRS. CARRIE SMITHSON
As the eve of another day approached, God called to his home Mrs. Carrie Smithson, who had been ill for several weeks. She was at the Woodbury Hospital when she died.
She was about 35 years of age and had been a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church for several years. She will be missed by her many friends and most of all her family. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Lambert Smithson; four children, Virginia, James, Annette and an infant; her mother, Mrs. Nola Hale; three sisters, Mrs. Ora Anderson, Mrs. Pearl Cook and Mrs. Martha Cook;*; three half-sisters, Mrs. Nona Ashford, Mrs. Eula Parker and Mrs. Hattie Keaton, besides other relatives and friends.
We wish to say to her bereaved* family just prepare to meet her, we can't understand why God called her away from her home, but He knew best for she's gone where no sorrow, death or pain can come any more.
Her funeral was conducted by Rev. J. L. Snow. Her body was laid to rest in the Hale Cemetery, to await the resurrection day. Written by niece.
