Rev. Gary Dean Edwards, 72, of Martinsville, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at his home. He was born on November 25, 1949, to the late Melvin Dean Edwards and the late Pauline Elizabeth (Owens) Edwards.
He graduated from Martinsville High School with the class of 1968. He previously had worked at Bridgeport Brass in Martinsville and the Harman-Motive in Martinsville. His true passion was spreading the gospel as an ordained minister. He previously served as the Senior Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Paragon. Gary enjoyed working with his hands including carpentry, mowing grass, and tinkering with cars.
Gary leaves behind his son, Cody Edwards of Indianapolis and brother, Ed (wife, Lisa) Edwards of Martinsville.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Dean and Pauline and brother, Steve "Shorty" Edwards.
At the family's request, Gary's earthly remains have been cremated. While there will be no public services at this time, a celebration of life gathering will likely be held in the days ahead with invitations being extended privately, by the family. Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
