Charles "Pat" W. Akers, 91, of Crystal Spring, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021, at Wellspan Chambersburg Hospital.

He was born on March 17, 1930, in Altoona, Pa., a son of the late Charles W. and Mary Elizabeth (Kagerise) Akers. On Aug. 4, 1953, in Hagerstown, Md., he was united in marriage to Leona J. (Calhoun) Akers.

Along with his wife of sixty-eight years, he is survived by sons: Steven C. Akers, married to Darlene (Stoey) of Greencastle, Pa.; Roger L. Akers, married to Mil (Speth) of Mercersburg, Pa.; and Randy E. Akers, married to Pamela (Myers) of Greencastle, Pa.; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Pat was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Lynn Akers, and siblings: Allen, Robert, Stanley, James, and Lois.

Mr. Akers served in the United States Army from 1948-1952 during the Korean War.

He was of the Baptist Faith. Pat was a life member of the Mercersburg V.F.W. Post No. 6241 and Mercersburg American Legion Post No. 517. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and gardening. He retired from Mack Trucking Inc. in 1991 after many years of service.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, Dec. 17, from 6-8 p.m. at the Akers Funeral Home Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, Pa., and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Chaplain Judy Joudry officiating.

Burial will be held at Union Memorial Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Everett Area Honor Guard.
