Sammie Daniel Bough, 90, of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away at 4:40 a.m. Friday, December 14, 2007 at Mount Carmel Regional Medical Center, Pittsburg.
He was born November 25, 1917 at Caplinger Mills, Missouri to Thomas Jackson and Bertha Ainley Bough. He attended schools in the Stockton, Missouri area.
He was a veteran of World War ll serving with the 415th Infantry of the 104th Timberwolf division.
On October 28, 1940 he was united in marriage to Wilrose Whitten at Franklin, Missouri. She survives at the home.
Mr. Bough worked at United Iron Works from 1942 to 1954 and for the City of Pittsburg Fire Department from 1955 to 1979.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Pittsburg American Legion Post #64, Pittsburg Masonic Lodge No. 187, A.F. & A.M., the Mirza Shrine, a lifetime member of the Scottish Rite Consistory of Fort Scott, Mirza Greeters Unit, Pittsburg Scottish Rite Club, Crawford County Shrine Club and the Shrine Legion of Honor. Mr. Bough was also an avid fisherman.
Survivors include three sons, Don Bough and wife Kay Lynne of Pittsburg, KS, Ron Bough and wife Leanore of Billings, MT, David Bough of Kansas City, MO, one daughter, Krista Bough Cornell of Pittsburg, KS; four grandsons, James, Jason and wife Laura, Jonathan, and Justin Bough and one granddaughter Melanie Bough of Billings, MT, two great-grandchildren Andy and Ashley Bough of Billings, MT.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Tommie, Homer, Charlie, Buddie Paul and John Bough, four sisters, Florence and Lessie Mae Bough, Tarcy Runyan and Mary Ann Landreth.
Masonic Services will be in the Brenner Mortuary Chapel. Funeral services will be at the Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Don Foster of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Burial, with flag folding services by Pittsburg American Legion Post #64, will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, Kansas.
