He developed the remaining land into an office/warehouse complex, now known as Smith Farm Enterprises, LLC. He then purchased property on Matthews-Indian Trail Road in Matthews and expanded by building a 30 unit office/warehouse complex, known as Webland Enterprises, LLC.
--Ernie married Mrs. Marie Wilkinson Sawyer on December 24, 1980.
--He was the father of 4 children: Diana, Debbie, Cindy, and William P. Blitch. He had 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
