Mrs. Katherine Marcelene Windom Johnson, age 89, of Tallapoosa, GA, passed away November 28, 2021.
She was born October 31, 1932, in Tallapoosa, GA, to the late Walker and Lena Clay Windom.
Marcelene retired from US Can, where she worked as a canner, who went above and beyond, doing whatever needed to be done. She was a devoted member of Providence Baptist Church. She was a "Mammie" to all, especially her dear family, whom she loved more than anything.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Cranston Johnson; two sisters, Sarah Bates and Clara Dewberry; and a brother, Harold Windom.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Gary Staton, of Tallapoosa; two grandsons and their spouses, Nathan and Shea Worthy and Dustin and Madison Worthy; five great grandchildren, Zaden Worthy, Zylee Worthy, Zorie Worthy, Lucas Worthy, and Hutcheson Worthy; a sister, Irene Kelley, of Tallapoosa; and a brother, Johnny Windom, of Tallapoosa.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at 5:30PM at Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Pixler officiating. Grandsons, Nathan and Dustin Worthy will share special messages. Music will be provided by Renee Bell and Josh Worthy.
Providence Church Deacons will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
Interment will follow in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday afternoon beginning at 4:00PM until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Johnson asked that donations be made to Providence Baptist Church in her name.
