Marvel DeLonzor a Napa resident since 1973, passed away in her home on Feb. 10 following a valiant battle against cancer. She was 68.

She was born to Hans C. and Catholeen P. Christensen in Blackfoot, Idaho, on Sept. 21, 1927. Attending school in Black-foot, she went on to the universities of Utah and Idaho. Marvel lived in Utah 11 years with her first husband and two children, then moved to Illinois and New York for the next live years before settling in California in 1964.

Moving to Napa in 1973, she married Robert Vincent DeLonzor in 1974. She worked as a secretary to the superintendent of schools in St. Helena for 14 years, retiring in 1988. Her retirement was enhanced by folk dancing, which she started teaching in 1990. A lover of music and the arts, she also enjoyed hiking and ballroom dancing. Mrs. DeLonzor was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church), and spent many hours serving in the various auxiliaries of the church.

Marvel is survived by her husband and best friend, Robert Vincent DeLonzor of Napa; son, Gregory Dee Stone of San Jose; son and daughter-in-law, Brad Lowell and Rebecca Stone, and their two children, all of Lawrenceville, Ga.; stepdaughters, Gwen DeLonzor of Cupertino and Diana DeLonzor of San Francisco; stepsons and step-daughters-in-law, Gerard and Laura DeLonzor of Folsom, and Russ and Kimberly DeLonzor and their two children, all of Union City; sister, Helen Hemming of Idaho Falls, Idaho; sister-in-law. Ruth Christensen; two step-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral service at 1 p.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2590 Trower Ave., with Bishop Mark Pickett conducting. Interment will follow at Tulocay Cemetery. Visitation will be today until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Richard Pierce Funeral Service, 1660 Silverado Trail. Friday visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. in the Relief Society Room at the church.
