He retired from the old International Harvester Co. and was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Marie Cooper; daughter, Jean Poffley; son, Edward Cecil; granddaughter, Molly Cecil; son-in-law, Terry Gray; and brothers, Gus, Clyde, George and Oldron Cecil.
He is survived by his children, David L. Cecil, William Cecil (Betty), Judith Conder, Linda Savage (Terry), Robert Cecil (Kathy), Kathleen King (Tim), Susan Davis (Rick), James Cecil (Norma), Mark Cecil, Theresa Gray (Richard Lile) and Christopher Cecil (Carol); daughter-in-law, Donna Cecil; son-in-law, James Poffley; 36 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; brothers and siblings, Kathleen Blandford, Dorothy Mills, Glayds Brown, Harold Cecil, Bert Cecil and Mike Cecil; special thanks to caregiver, Lois Drake, nurse, Angie with Hosparus and aide Caleb and many more loving and caring staff.
His celebration of life Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas More, 6105 S. Third St. with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation 2-8 p.m. Friday at Joseph E. Ratterman & Son, 7336 Southside Dr.
