Gladys Marie Cecil Brown, 92, of Louisville, passed away of cancer on Thursday, December 23, 2021. She was born on October 28, 1929, to Edward Dant Cecil and Mary Regina Hughes Cecil. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Joe" Albert Brown; parents; son, Richard Brown; and brothers, "Little" Clyde Cecil, Virgil Augustus "Gus" Cecil, Ambrose Cecil, William Clyde Cecil, Oldron Cecil, and George Cecil; and sister, Mary Kathleen Cecil Blandford. Gladys is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Ivey; son-in-law, Greg Ivey; sister, Dorothy Mills; and brothers, Mike Cecil, Harold Cecil, and Bert Cecil. She was known to be a talker and enjoyed talking with family and friends, especially her sister Dorothy. She also loved music and was a devote Catholic to the end. Gladys was an active member of St. Martha Catholic Church for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Altar Society and the Buechel Woman's Club. Visitation will be from 2-6 PM on Monday, December 27, 2021, at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road. Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM on Tuesday, December 28 at St. Martha Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, Hosparus, or Masses.
