Biography
Charles was Born in Washington New York May 1843 to Parents William & Charlotte. He Married Mary Ann Wiltshire in 1868 & had 4 Children. Robert E, Charles L, Joseph B, Mary E. His wife Charlotte died very young in 1878 at 32 Years old. After she died Charles Married Annie E. Martin in 1889. They had no childern. It is unclear why as of right now but all 3 of Charles kids that were living after there mom died were orphans & went to live with there aunt.
Charles worked for a Shipyard as a Express Wagon Driver. As the 1875 newspaper states from him loosing his wallet & the 1900 Census. Here is the Definition of a Express Wagon Driver.
(An important mover of city freight was the express or baggage wagon. Closely associated with the railway shipping, they were extensively used for express-company deliveries, railway-baggage movement and large deliveries from business houses." Excerpt from Horse-Drawn Commercial Vehicles)

In 1902 he sold his home on West side 29th Street 30Ft from NW Corner O in Richmond Virginia to William P Parton for 1,150

On April 26 1915 Charles bought a house on 6.12 Acres in Richmond Virginia on Darby Town Road 7 miles east of the city from a man named Paul D Mende for $700
He later lost the house from tax delinquency on Sep 27 1929

Charles was a Corporal in the Confederate side Civil War. His right foot was injured in the war by recoil of cannon Carriage wheel while passing over his foot. He was a member of the R. E. Lee Camp.
