Dora Nevada Myers McElhatten, 78, of Knight Town Road, Shippenville, died at 9:30 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2003, in Beverly Healthcare-Shippenville. Born on August 9, 1925, in Clarion Township, Clarion County, she was the daughter of James C. and Mary M. Black Myers. Mrs. McElhatten had been handicapped since age 4 with rheumatoid arthritis. She was married on May 27, 1995, to Ronald N. McElhatten, who survives. The past eight years with her husband were the most important years of her life. She was a devout Christian and was a member of Shippenville United Methodist Church. Mrs. McElhatten enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery and making cards. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are four sisters, Margaret Kern, of Florida, Betty Zacherl and husband, Vince, of Georgia, Janie Croyle, of Strattanville, and Fran Ganoe, of Clarion; a brother-in-law, Gerve Wolbert, of Wyoming; and a special nephew, Robert Young, of Florida, among numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McElhatten was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter Myers, Cub Myers and William Myers; and three sisters, Nell Basinger, Mary Wolbert and Lorena Young. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday in Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Rev. Tim Bowser, pastor of Shippenville United Methodist Church, officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. Clara Belloit. Interment will be in Pleasant Hills Cemetery, Shippenville.
