John B. Agner, 88, of Peoria died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at Washington Christian Village.

He was born May 22, 1919, in St. Louis, Mo., to Frank O. and Violet H. (DeBell) Agner. He married Joan Day on Sept. 21, 1940, in Peoria. She preceded him in death on May 19, 1964, in Peoria. He then married Carol W. Woodley Michaels on Nov. 25, 1977. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, John (Maggie) Agner of Peoria, Jane (Dennis) Lindsey of Mapleton and Jean (Bob) Pullen of Edelstein. He was an awesome stepfather to Susan Michaels of Champaign, Stephen (Claudia) Michaels of Denver, Colo., and Jim (Tina) Michaels of Downers Grove.

He was a United States Navy veteran, serving in World War II.

He worked as a commercial sales supervisor for CILCO for 44 years, retiring in 1981.

He was a charter member of United Presbyterian Church.

He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of Temple Lodge 46, AF&AM, Mohammed Temple and Shrine and Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria.

Cremation rites have been accorded with burial of ashes in the United Presbyterian Memorial Gardens in Peoria at a later date.
