Mrs. McNew was a native and lifelong resident of Etowah County. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She and her husband operated Falls View Grocery from 1957 until 1958.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Josh and Myrtle [Peek] Nix; sister, Shirley Bryant; and son-in-law, James Northcutt.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jack McNew; children, Karen Alford (Robert), Sharon Northcutt and Josh McNew (Brook); grandchildren, Jaclyn McNew (Curtis Sims), Nancy Fowler (Joshua) and Becky McNew; great-grandchildren, Eva and Tyler Fowler; sisters, Mae Aultman, Sue Woodard and Myrtice Statchura; brother, Billy Nix; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Sims, Josh Fowler, Brad Aultman, Dennis Bullock Jr., Ken Teal and Will Farley.
Honorary pallbearers are Jonathan Horton, Isaac Watts, Kevin McMahan, Kevin Gladden and Jason Gladden.
Special thanks to George Owen, Larry and Diane Gregory, and Thomas and Sandra McNew for the kindness shown during this time.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
