Alvin Walter Cavaness , 86, U S Army Veteran, of Glenn Heights, TX passed away on September 08, 2021.

Al was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years Charlene Cavaness in 2013.

He was born in Abilene, Texas and grew up there with his parents Amos and Leafy Meeks who have also preceded him in death along with his siblings Geneva Askins, Faye Shipley, and Emily Weeks.

He is survived by his children Caron Teske, Wayne Cavaness, Julia Sullins and Rodney Cavaness. Greatly loved by his grandchildren Alison Campbell,Rebecca Jackson, Cody Sullins and Tanner Teske. Great grandpa to Zoe Adams, Gaven Campbell, Abel Jackson, Emma Jackson and Zane Teske.

He was a family man above all. In his last days I asked him what he was thinking. His response was " I am dreaming" and I said "what about?" and he said "my family". He was a man of his word and personal responsibility who worked hard his whole life to take care of his family. He was intelligent and full of sharp wit with a great appreciation for all forms of humor.

He was an avid golfer, his second love after family, and he had five hole-in-ones in his life.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and one of his favorite gifts was a veteran Korean War hat gifted to him by his son-in-law Tim Teske.

He lived a very full life and often remarked to his children " I've had a Great Life". He died peacefully at home per his wishes.

Special thanks to the Veterans Administration for their care of dad and to Visiting Angels. All the aides that came to help dad loved him.

We honor him and miss him.

There will be no viewing or visitation. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday - September 21, 2021 at 2:15 P.M. in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mt. Creek Pkwy., Dallas, TX with Pastor Larry D. Williams, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials or donations be made in Mr. Cavaness' name to the VFW Post # 7843, Duncanville, TX.
