Three deaths, one that of Mrs. Delia P. Lurton, one of Jersey county’s oldest and best known residents, have occurred in Jersey county during the last three days.
Mrs. Delia P. Lurton, one of the oldest and best known residents of Jerseyville, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Akard of this city, Monday, July 1, at 11:30 a. m. Death was due to infirmities of old age.
The deceased was born in Morgan county, Ill., and at the time of her death had reached the advanced age of 94 years and 8 months. She had spent her entire life since the age of three years in Jersey county.
John C. Lurton, husband of the deceased, preceded her in death March 1, 1893, but she is survived by eight children, Mrs. Fred Warrick of Nurmberg, Germany, Mrs. Franklin Canonne of Rome, Italy, Mrs. Octavia Chappell of Trenton, John Woughtery, Mrs. Margaret Akard and Mrs. Estella D. Lurton of Jersey county. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
