Birth abt. 1868 - 1880 Census lists him as 12; 1870 Census lists him as age 3. In some reference his birth date is confused with that of John Campbell DeBusk that was born to a different set of parents. He married Mary Ann Pendleton Jones (MEMORIAL ID - 232411287) in Smyth County, VA on May 23, 1894.

John died early 1900 in Mercer County, WVA (90 miles from his home area) according to citations from others who have viewed a probate document. A few months after his death Mary returned to her parents as evidence by the 1900 Census taken in June. Considering such hastily return to Washington County, VA she choose Round Hill Cemetery instead of where his parents are buried.

Mary then married her first cousin, Thomas Franklin Jones (MEMORIAL ID - 232413928) abt 1908 after his first wife died in October 1907.
