Z. Louise Eckels, 78, of 1021 Blanchard Ave. died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, in Chambersburg Hospital.

Born May 16, 19920, in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Garnet and Eva V. Crider Tarner.

She was a member of King Street United Brethren Church, where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Fellowship. She also had done home visitation for the church.

Early in her life, she worked at the former Gray Line Hosiery of Chambersburg.

Mrs. Eckels also was a member of the auxiliary of Piney Mountain retirement community, Fayetteville, and Chambersburg Mall Walkers Club. She and her husband were volunteers with Meals on Wheels of Chambersburg, and she enjoyed baking, knitting and flowers.

Surviving are her husband, Jack H. Eckels, whom she married on Oct. 19, 1939; two daughters, Bonita (Mrs. William) Engle of Marysville and Jacky Martin of Hagerstown, Md.; a son, John H. (husband of Amy Shockey) of Waynesboro; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and her grandmother, Sophia Crider, who raised her.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home Inc., 333 Falling Spring Road. The Revs. Lester Stine and Paul Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 78 to 9 to night and one hour before the service Saturday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Golden Links Sunday School Class, in care of King Street United Brethren Church, 172 E. King St., Chambersburg 17201.
