Bryce Abe Anderson, 89 of Edwardsport, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 5:10 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Oak Village Healthcare Nursing Home.

Abe was born on December 8, 1931 in Emison to John Joshua and Cynthia Jane (Burress) Anderson. He was a graduate of Sandborn High School, Class of 1950 and Purdue University Agriculture Short Course. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Lee Davis on December 3, 1951. She preceded him in death on May 20, 2018.

Abe was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Mindoro. He was a member of the Church of the Living Word in Vincennes, the American Legion, the NRA and American Federation of Government Employees. He was a retired firefighter at NWSC Crane and retired truck driver.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, loved being surrounded by his family, camping, playing euchre, driving big trucks and watching baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.

Abe is survived by his children, Bryce Lee (Bobbie) Anderson of Vincennes, Paul Ceward (Janna) Anderson and Rebecca Jane (Ted) Roach of Oaktown; grandchildren, Danneca (John) Skandera of Santa Rosa, Calif., Bethany (Joel) Jirak of Winchester, Ky., Hannah (Nick) Hatfield of Oaktown, Amanda (John Paul) Sprague of Bicknell, Luke (Stephanie) Anderson of Carlisle, and Audra (Kevin) Lavery of Bargersville, as well as 31 great-grandchildren and 1 more on the way. He is also survived by brothers, John Anderson of Texas, Curt (Maye) Anderson of Sandborn, David (Heidi) Anderson of Linton and numerous nieces and nephews.

Abe was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; sisters, Marjorie Stevens, Virginia Stanton and Dolores Hollingsworth; brother, Sherman Anderson and twin brothers, Wayne and Wendell Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021 at Freelandville Christian Church with Pastor Bryce Anderson officiating. Abe will be laid to rest in Sandborn Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 26 and from 9 -10 a.m. on Friday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Edwardsport Volunteer Fire Department. Envelopes will be available at the church.
