Mr. Dampier had been a resident since moving from Tallahassee in 1982. He was a graduate of the University of Florida, where he majored in Accounting and English. Mr. Dampier was a member of the Alachua Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Geneyle Dampier.
Mr. Dampier is survived by two sons, Chester Lannis Dampier, Pensacola, Fla., and Carlton Lionel Dampier, Alachua, Fla, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2005 in the Alachua Church of Christ with Carlos Ellerbe officiating. Interment will follow in Newnansville Cemetery, Alachua, Fla. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 4 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Evans-Carter Funeral Home, 220 N. Main Street, High Springs, who is in charge of all arrangements.
