Garrett Scott Leake was my great-grandfather. His parents were Emily Arbella Mahanes & Austin Monroe Leake. He had 4 brothers (George, Zack, Sameul & Thomas) & 4 sisters (Adwildah, Bertie, Lucy Mary & Annie) that we know of.

On Nov. 25, 1868 he married DRUCILLA BOWLES and they had 2 sons, Alfred Patton and Todd Leake. From this point on, I have very little information, and thus begins our "great family mystery"!

On Sept. 24, 1896 he married my great-grandmother, Laura Margaret Young. He died just 6 months and 11 day later, in Low Moor VA. My grandmother was born later in the year and thus never knew her father. She believed that he was working for the railroad at the time of his death but did not know the circumstances surrounding it. Her mother, being with child, was not allowed by the doctor to attend the burial. His body was "taken away on a train" and his final resting place remains unknown to our family. It is believed that he may have been buried with his first wife, Drucilla.

If anyone is researching this line or can provide any information, it would be greatly appreciated!
