Mother Of Local Resident Dies In Granger

Mrs. Annie Maude Beard, age 86, of Granger, passed away at the Bluebonnet Nursing Center in Granger at 12 noon Sunday, June 20. Mrs. Beard was born in Stiles' Switch , near Thrall, on Jan. 8, 1890, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Bryan. Mrs. Beard was a life long member of the Baptist Church and has resided in Granger the past 72 years. She was married to Robert C. Beard in Granger Nov. 14, 1905. She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 21, 1970 and a daughter, Margaret Lousie Beard on April 14, 1937. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Edna Steglich of Bartlett, Mrs. Rowena Johnson, Mrs. Winnie Tidwell, Mrs. Ivy Maude Smith, and Mrs. Myrtle Zett, all of Austin; a sister, Mrs. Ivy Jewel Rountree of San Antonio; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Granger, with Rev. Robert Murray officiating. Interment was in the Granger City Cemetery with Condra Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were grandsons, Robert Steglich, James C. Tidwell, Jr., Michael Tidwell, David Zett, Reagan Smith, Glen Smith, Mark Zett, and a grandson-in-law, Ray Geurink.
