William Sidney Bryan was born to James R. Bryan and Susan Denman Bryan in Jackson Co. or Dekalb Co., Alabama on May 10, 1865.

William married Rowena Texas Jarrell, daughter of Smith Callaway Jarrell and Mary Ann Elizabeth Meriah Horn Jarrell, in 1888 in Williamson County, Texas.

William S. Bryan apparently suffered a heart attack on February 22, 1902 on his farm near Heidenheimer. He died at 36 years of age.

He was survived by his wife, Rowena and eight children:
Annie Maude Bryan (Beard) (1890-1976)
Mary Lula Bryan (Beard) (1891- 1972)
Henry Murrah Bryan (1892 - 1938)
William Hugh Bryan (1893 - 1931)
Ira Denman Bryan 1896-1904)
Preston Cornelius Bryan (1898 - 1920)
Carrie Hoke Bryan (1900 - 1920)
Ivy Jewell Bryan (1902 - 1985)

He was buried in an unmarked grave in the Wedel Cemetery according to my Grandmother and his oldest daughter, Maude.

At the time his grave was marked with shells brought by his brother from the Texas Gulf Coast and a blue glass vase.

The grave was never marked and it is not known where his grave is located in the cemetery.

The family lived on their farm near the Wedel Cemetery in Bell County Texas, a few miles East of Temple.
