E. A. Niemeyer Passes Away Friday Evening
Prominent Guttenberg Business Man Buried Monday Morning

Funeral services for Edward Arthur Niemeyer, prominent business man, were held Monday morning at nine o'clock at St. Mary's church. Burial was made in Mt. Olivet cemetery, Rev. J. A. Dupont officiating at the church and graveside. Business houses were closed during the hour of the funeral.

Mr. Niemeyer, who was born in Guttenberg on March 20, 1880, the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Niemeyer, passed away at seven o'clock Friday evening, Feb. 8, after an illness of two months. He was stricken with pneumonia some time ago and complications set in that sapped his strength and finally caused his death. His passing is a great loss to his family and friends and to the town of Guttenberg, which he served so faithfully as a member of the town council for several years and as a member of the Community club. Every movement for the betterment of conditions here always merited prompt support from Ed Niemeyer and his cheerful disposition and friendly attitude left their mark on all with whom he came into contact. To his beloved family he was a tower of strength and courage and they above all will miss his kindly help and loyal love.

He received his education in St. Mary's parochial school and later was employed in the clothing store operatied by his father. On the death of the latter he took over the managership and has creditably run the business ever since. On May 16, 1905, he was united in marriage to Miss Magdalena Satran of Guttenberg, the ceremony being performed at St. Mary's church. To this union two children were born, a daughter Obdulia and a son Milton, who with the bereaved widow, his mother, Mrs. Margaret Niemeyer, one brother Oscar, one sister Hilda West of Moulton, Iowa, and one grandson, James Edward, survives.

Mr. Niemeyer was a devout member of the Holy Name society of St. Mary's church and carried out all the principles of his religion in his everyday life.

The funeral was very largely attended. The following relatives and friends came from other towns to attend the last rites:

Mr. Joe Trumm and son Carl, Mr. and Mrs. Al Trumm, Mr. John Beerman, Mr. and Mrs. John Schoenauer, Mr. John Heitman and family, Mrs. E. C.
