GEORGE W. BALL
George William "Bill" Ball, 77, died July 3 at his residence. A native of Kimberly, Nev., he was born Dec. 19, 1911 to George L. and Nellie Compton Ball.
He attended school in White Pine County and graduated Utah State University in Logan, Utah, and was an Ely resident.
Ball served in the Navy during World War II and was stationed in New Guinea. He worked for the Kennecott Copper Corporation for about 37 years in the controllers department, and he was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He was preceded in death by his paents, brothers, Col. Ray Ball and robert Dean Ball, sisters, Georgia Draper and Lima Kirkham.
Surviving are his widow, Wilma, a son, William Dean "Bill", both of Cedar City, Utah; daughters, Judy L.Watts of Las Cruces, N.M., and Gayle J. Robison of Ely; brother Frank, and sister Marjorie Martineau, both of McGill; 12 grandchildren; three grea-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Friday at the Wilson Bates Mortuary in Ely, with burial at the Ely City Cemetery.
A memorial is being established with Primary Children's Medical Center, 320 12th Ave., Salt Lake City, Utah 84103.
