"Died - In Newark, June 25th, 1873, Adeline, relict of Jason Sanford, aged 66 years. Mrs. Adeline, widow of the late Jason Sanford, died of consumption at the residence of her son-in-law, Z.B. Gardinier in Newark, June 25, 1873. For more than a year, Mrs. Sanford had realized that her earthly career was fast drawing to a close, and her whole life had been such that death had no fears for her, and as though changing a place of residence, she passed from this life into that better life beyond, freed from the cares and troubles of earth without any apparent regrets. Mrs. Sanford and her husband were old residents of Wayne County, and for a long time had resided in east part of the town of Palmyra, where they were esteemed as among Palmyra's best citizens. Her husband departed this life some years ago, since which time she has lived in the town of Palmyra, about three miles from Newark. She leaves several children to mourn the loss of an affectionate mother, one of whom, Mrs. Clark of California, was unable to be present to drop a tear at her grave. She was buried in the burying ground at Newark. The sermon was preached by Re. Mr. Manning, pastor of the M.E. Church." (June 28, 1873, The Newark Union, NY)
