Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel M. Looney, Ashville, will be at 2 p.m. today at Overcoming Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Ashville, with burial in Ashville Cemetery. Bishop Charles Williams will officiate. Arrangements entrusted to Gadsden Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Hazel M. Looney was born on March 18, 1949, to the late Mr. Leonard and Mrs. Willie Mae Bothwell. Hazel was married to Mr. James E. Looney. Hazel confessed her life to Christ at an early age at Weeping Mary Baptist Church, Ashville. She later moved her membership to Overcoming Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Ashville, where she served faithfully until her health declined. She departed this life on Saturday, July 18, 2009, at St. Vincent's East Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Henry Bothwell. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband, James, daughter, Towana (Willie) Bennett; son, Jamarric (Cathy) Looney; and her baby sister Wanda, which she took in and reared as her own daughter, after the death of their mother; two stepsons, Steve and Jamie; three grandchildren, Tytiana Looney, Jenaya Bennett and Lynden Looney; five sisters, Mary Evans, Carolyn Polk, Dorothy (Curtis) Phillips, Wanda Looney, all of Ashville, and Betty Turner, Gadsden; five brothers, Leonard Bothwell Jr. and Leon (Florence) Bothwell, Ashville, Clarence (Bridget) Bothwell, Oscar (Beverly) Bothwell, Oneonta, and Edward Bothwell, Gadsden; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Looney, Charlotte Bothwell, Shirley Bonner, Catherine Bothwell, Ella Bothwell, all of Ashville, and Wonda Faye Williams, Gadsden; two brothers-in-law, Joe Looney and Willie Looney, Ashville; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, of which Monica Bothwell was especially dear to Hazel's heart, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
