Bill Hanson, 76, of Fort Dodge, died at his home June 28, 2021.
Private family interment will be held in Norway Cemetery, near Thor.
Visitation will be held from 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2021, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 6:00 p.m. at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
William Robert Hanson, the son of Robert and Ruth (Brisbin) Hanson, was born February 1, 1945, in Fort Dodge. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School and Mason City Junior College. On June 28, 1962, Bill was united in marriage to Linda Mickelson. The couple made their home and raised their family in Fort Dodge. He was a chartered financial adviser and life underwriter, working 37 years for Lutheran Brotherhood and 15 years owning Hanson Assets Strategies. He retired in 2018. Bill was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, a member of the Noon Rotary Club.
Survivors include his twin daughters, Lisa (Pete) Sharp of Olathe; KS, Lori (Todd) Whitaker of Tonganoxie, KS, son Dave (Anne) of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Nolan Allen (Natalie Turner), Ryan (Bessie) Necas and Samantha Necas; and great-grandchildren, Brody, Ashton and Audrey; his brothers John (Bonnie) Hanson of Greenwood, IN, and Ron (Sally) Hanson of Carmel, IN; and sister, Mary (Jim) Christianson of Spirit Lake. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda in 2019, his parents Robert and Ruth Hanson.
Memorials may be directed towards Unity Point Cancer Center or the Republican National Committee.
