A native of Union County, he had spent most of his life in Cobb County. He had been with Lockheed-Georgia 18 years as a research mechanic. He was a member of Piedmont Baptist Church. Burial at Noonday Baptist Church Cemetery, Hay-Gantt Funeral Home, in charge.
Surviving are wife the former Lucile Pruitt, Marietta; daughter Frances E. Chambers, Atlanta; sons Leland C. Chambers and Irvin F. Chambers Marietta; sisters Naomi (Mrs. Howard) Moon, Jonesboro, and Flora (Mrs. Bea) Ledford, Whiteburg; brothers Clifton J. Chambers, Charlotte, N.C., and James Robert Chambers, Marietta; and five grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents Patrick L and Frances Hicks Chambers and his sister Rosie Jane Chambers Russell.
