Obituary. PRICE - Verdis Leon Barker, age 88, passed away June 22, 2021 in Price, Utah. He was born April 2, 1933, to Elizabeth Pernelli Jorgensen and Ted Lee Barker in Wellington, Utah. He married the love of his life, Pauline Rich, on March 28, 1953, in Price, Utah, and later solemnized in the Manti Temple on March 27, 1965.

Verdis was a member of the United States Army where he served honorably during the Korean War. For the majority of his life, Verdis was a farmer and rancher who loved the great outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and camping at the Boulder Mountains, Thousand Lakes and Flaming Gorge. However, his fondest memories were those created at the cabin and while hunting with his family in Cow Canyon and Coal Creek. Verdis was also a businessman, owning several local businesses and serving the Carbon County Farm Bureau for 20 years. He was also in leadership positions of several other local committees and organizations.

As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Verdis served in many callings throughout his life. He and his wife Pauline served two missions; the first to Kentucky, Louisville from 1983 to 1984, and the second to the bishop's storehouse for many years.

Verdis is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Pauline Rich Barker; five children, Dana (Tom) Dimick, Brent (Marjorie) Barker, Jayline (Doug) Gardner, Dorrell (Michele) Barker, Joni (Richard) Hackwell, all of Price, UT; 28 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many loving nieces and nephews.
