He and his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Berfeld, lived in Remsen and in Paullina before moving to Rhodes in 1961.
He and Betty purchased the Ace Cafe from Charles and Alice Elliot in 1970 as a family enterprise and then sold it to Sandra Brown in 1975.
