Helen was born November 29, 1919, to Lawrence James and Emily Augusta Adams in Parowan, Utah.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She met her husband at BYU, which she attended for three semesters before changing course and completing a certificate in cosmetology. They married on August 31, 1940. The mother of three children, Helen served for eight years in the Maeser School PTA and also as a room mother. She was a past president of Literati and Readers Guild, a member of Riverside Country Club and the Ladies Golfing Association, and an avid Bridge enthusiast her whole married life. She won many trophies bowling in the Regal Bowling League, on a Ladies Riverside morning team, and in mixed doubles. She made, by hand, exceptionally intricate and beautiful quilts. She loved singing, fishing, dancing, sewing, and traveling with her husband and their friends. But she always smiled when she said, "My greatest joy is my children and then my grand-children and great-grandchildren."
Helen is survived by many who love her dearly. Her sisters: Bev Pendleton and Renee Fife of Parowan; and Joan Stewart of Boulder, Colorado. Her children: Doc (Jayne) and Frosty Hansen of Provo; and Bobbi (Bob) Pochman of Mercer Island, Washington. Her grandchildren: Ethan (Julie), Erin, and Owen Pochman; Rachel (Dave) Jorgensen; and Sarah, Jessica, Joshua (Jamie), and Johanna Hansen. Six of her seven great-grand-children: Andrew, Wyatt, Gabriel, and Emma Pochman and J.D. and Jacob Jorgensen. And lots of good friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo. Friends and family may call at the mortuary on Tuesday evening, November 13, 2007, from 6 until 8 or on Wed. one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
