Raymond Paul Goodmon passed away peacefully into Jesus arms on June 7, 2021 in Bakersfield, California at the age of 82. He was born October 26, 1938 in Bakersfield, California to George & Senny Goodmon. Ray met the love of his life, Betty Sue through mutual friends at Bakersfield High School. They were married in July, 1958. Their love affair was an inspiration to family and friends beyond measure.
As they began to build their lives, Ray told Sue that he would like two boys. His dream came true, Rod was born first and Vyn followed thereafter. Ray enjoyed watching them grow up playing football throughout high school and college.
Ray was a local business owner in Bakersfield for over 50 years. He loved working with people and ministering to them along the way.
Ray loved and enjoyed his family very much. Ray is survived by his wife, Betty Sue. sons Rod (Shelly) and Vyn (Cindy); grandchildren Seth (Courtney), Kala (Chris), Tamara (Kevin), Kristen (Ross), Jacob (Allyson), Breann, Clinton (Danielle), and Titus; greatgrandchildren Heather, Jonathon, Hazel, JD, Jace, Grace, Isla and Cole. He also leaves behind his sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews.
Ray will be greatly missed and the empty space that will be felt without him will be great. His fun loving spirit is a memory for us all to cherish until we meet him again.
A Celebration of Life will be on June 22, 2021 at 10:00 am at Valley Baptist Church on Fruitvale Avenue.
