We rejoice knowing that today, Marjorie Ann(Goodmon)White is whole, rejoicing and worshiping her savior Jesus Christ. Mom slipped away on August 24, 2017, while recovering from a mild heart attack. She is now reunited in heaven with her husband, Gerald Gene White, son; Steven Glenn Hopper and her parents.
Marjorie was born to George P. & Seney Bell Goodmon and joined her older brother Ray Goodmon on June 14,1940. She subsequently became a big sister to Linda Gray, Richard Goodmon, James Goodmon and Paula Winter. Marjorie enjoyed a happy childhood. It was the simple things of days gone by that kept her entertained. Marjorie attended Mt. Vernon School, Fairfax School and Glad Tidings Church weekly.
To many she was known as Sam, Margie, sister, Wagie, daughter, aunt and grandma, but her most prized and respected title was that of ‘Mother’. Her roll as mother and homemaker was taken very seriously and made a top priority in her life. Marjorie affirmed her children, taught us loyalty, instilled love and respect towards each other, and required us to show the same to those around us.
Momma said asking Jesus to be your personal savior was the single most important decision anyone could make. When it came to the subject of her Lord and Savior, Marjorie spoke precisely, firmly, lovingly and with passion. As a mother, her expectations required us to push into a closer walk with the Lord, while learning to lean on Him and to hold fast to the narrow road. Her journey on this road has been an inspiration to her family and those around her. Marjorie and Gene’s devotion to each other brought peace and security to the lives of their children. She is survived by daughters; Kim (Dan) Grijalva, Athena (Steve) Collup and Beth Ann (Dave) Walker, daughter-in-law, Laurie Hopper, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews.
