An old resident of the county passed away on Friday afternoon, April 17th, in the person of Mrs. Ollie Baker. Death took pace at 5:20 o'clock-at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. J. Ray, 1812 Boone Street. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Ray residence, and the remains taken to Mineral. Ridge where services were held at 2:00 o'clock from the Baptist church, Rev. H. Rust officiating. The pall-bearers were. Steve Baker, Roy Lind-mark, Alex Sterrett, John Cole, James Cole and Samuel Cole. Interment was in the Mineral Ridge cemetery. 0lly Mitchell, the oldest child of John and Mary Mitchell, was born July 8, 1827 in Rockcastle county, Kentucky, and died at her home, 1802 Boone street, Boone, Ia., April 17, 1914 when 86 years, 8 months and 9 days of age. Deceased was united in marriage to Joel Baker April 9, 1843, in Clay County, Indiana. To them were born twelve children of whom nine daughters and two sons are left to mourn the loss of a loving mother. There also remain forty-eight grandchildren and 122 great grandchildren besides three brothers and six sisters. Her husband passed to his reward February 12, 1889. One son John, aged 14 years, died June 25, 1871. She was converted when 11 years of age and joined the Baptist church. She has been an earnest, consistent member of that church for 75 years. She was one of the charter members of the Mineral Ridge Baptist church and has been a shining light on the heavenly pathway for many weary feet. Her children are as follows: Mrs. J. F. Richey, Mrs. E. J. Ray, Mrs. S. M. Sterrett, all of this city; Mrs. Jas. Price, Mrs. D. A. Cole, Mrs. Mary Cole, Mrs. Herman Lindmark and Elias Baker, all of Boone county; Mrs. Giles Strode of Rosehill, Kas; Mrs. Chas. Ray of Armour, S. D; George Baker of. Fort Cobb, Okla; all being able to attend the funeral except Mrs. Giles Strode. Her sisters are Mrs. Wm. Brown, Mrs. Mary White, of this county; Mrs. Margaret Stark of Smithfield, Neb; Mrs. Winnie Stark of Eustis, Neb; Mrs. Chloe Upton of Langlonis, Ore; Mrs. Milly Moneysmith of York, Neb. Her brothers are Mal Mitchell of Salem, Ore; Greenberry Mitchell of Counsel Grove. Kas. Wm. Mitchell of York, Neb. Those from out of town who attended them funeral were Mrs. Chas. Ray, George Baker and Mrs. Milly Moneysmith and William Mitchell.

A short service was held at the house Sunday at 2 pm at Mineral Ridge. Rev H. Rust, Pastor of the Mineral Ridge Baptist Church officiated the funeral, taking his text from Revelations 14:13. The remains were laid to rest in the Mineral Ridge Cemetery beside her husband.
The pall bearers were all grandsons: Steve Baker, Roy Lindmark, Alex Sterrett, John Cole, Jim Cole, and Sam Cole.

The deceased has been bedfast for almost ten days, a stroke of paralysis hastening the end. deceased was born in Rock Castle Kentucky, moved to Indiana at and early age and was there married. They moved to Iowa in 1851 and settled in Boone County and has since made her home here. Since the death of her husband she has made a home with her daughter, Sarah.
