Rosella Jean Hill (Jestes) died in her home on August 27, 2016 in Folsom, California.

Called Jean by her family and friends and Grammy by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was born on October 5, 1926, in Arkansas City, Kansas and raised in Blackwell, Oklahoma. In 1943, her parents moved the family to Whittier, California. A year later, Jean met Russell Hill and they married on February 17, 1946 after he returned from the war. They had 2 daughters, Cheryl and Christie. Jean worked as a secretary for the Los Angeles County Police Department and later for the ABC School District in Cerritos, California. In 1997, Jean moved to Folsom, California.

Jean had a strong but quiet spirit, dry humor, and a deep faith in God. Her greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed making chicken and noodles, Jello "salad" and tacos for the whole family, taking her grandchildren to Disneyland and watching her great grandchildren. She cherished times of quiet, solitude, and peace and loved each member of her family deeply.

On a piece of paper used as a bookmark in her Bible, she wrote: Hear clearly, Slow to speak, Slow to anger. She practiced those words daily and never complained regardless of her circumstances. She will be missed.

Jean is survived by her husband Russell Hill; her daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Bob Therkelsen; daughter Christie Hill; four grandchildren: Kristin and Matthew Beers and Peter and Jessica Therkelsen; and three great-grandchildren: James Beers, Luke Beers, and Soren Therkelsen.

Jean was buried following a private ceremony in Ashland, Oregon on September 1, 2016. A memorial will be held in Folsom to celebrate her life.
