Ruth A. Ellis, 98, of Ellettsville passed away at IU Health-Bloomington Hospice House on Thursday, May 27, 2021. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 23, 1923, she was the daughter of Howard E. and Anna G. (Zike) Godsey.

Ruth was a homemaker. She loved spending time visiting with her family and friends. Ruth loved to sing songs and recite poems to all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Ruth was a devout Baptist who dedicated her life to the Lord and was a charter member of Lifeway Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed.

Ruth is survived by her Son, Robert J. Cantrell (Ruth) and Two Daughters, Beverly K. May (Paul), and Ava Gene McSwane (David); Step Daughter, Katherine Nance (John). She has Twelve Grandchildren, Twenty-Three Great-Grandchildren and Fourteen Great-Great-Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her First Husband, Richard Cantrell; her Second Husband, William Ellis; Brothers, David Godsey (Carol), and Howard Godsey (Chicky); Sisters, Vera Harlow (Herman) and Doris Wickline (Earnest); Children, Billie Ann Ellis, Richard Cantrell (Linda), and Gilbert Cantrell; Grandchild, Malia R. Hays and Great-Great Grandchild, Mackenzie K Ogan.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville from 11-1 pm. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial is at Chambersville Cemetery.
