NELDA DRING GOSDIN.
BOSSIER CITY, LA - Nelda Nakoma Dring Gosdin was born on December 9, 1920 in the Antioch Community near Simsboro, LA to Charlie and Kate Dring. She died on Monday March 25, 2002 at Willis-Knighton Pierremont at the age of 81.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at Antioch Cemetery in Simsboro, LA. Funeral home visitation will be on Tuesday, March 26, 2002 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Mrs. Gosdin was a graduate of Ruston High School and completed her nursing degree in Shreveport at Charity Hospital Nursing School in 1945. She married William Vernon "Pete" Gosdin on January 6, 1946. They made their home in Springhill, LA where she practiced nursing for 40 years. She was a longtime member of Welcome Home Methodist Church in Welcome, AR before moving to Bossier City in 1996.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Gosdin; her parents and 12 brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Gosdin is survived by her sons, Mike Gosdin and wife Patty of Shreveport, Steve Gosdin of Taylor, LA, John Gosdin and wife, Susan of Magnolia, AR; daughter, Lisa Smith and husband Cliff of Bossier City; 13 grandchildren, Tina Tomasek, Mary Zagone, Pam Gosdin, Shelly McWilliams, Nathan Armstrong, Ryan Gosdin, Phoebe Gosdin, Pat Gosdin, Katrina Gosdin, Jonathan Gosdin, Jeremy Gosdin, Emily Smith and Rachel Smith; 12 great-grandchildren; special niece and nephew, Janelle Silvey and Freddie Price and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Riverview Care Center for their love and care and to the 6th Floor Staff of Willis Knighton Pierremont. Special thanks to Dr. Chris Rheams.
