MENANDS -- Bernard V. Murphy, 68, of No. Pearl St., Menands, died Tuesday, October 6, 1998 at Community Hospice of Albany at St. Peter's Hospital. A life long Albany resident, Mr. Murphy was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a route salesman for NEHI Beverage Co., retiring in 1992 after 35 years of service. After his retirement, Mr. Murphy worked part time with the Watervliet Arsenal PX for five years. He was a past commander and lifetime member of the No. Albany American Legion Post #1610, where he also served proudly for 37 years as a member of their color guard. Mr. Murphy was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit. Devoted husband of Joyce Pinchin Murphy; beloved father of Belinda Kent and her husband, Michael of Albany, Susan E. Murphy of Selkirk, Kathleen Gibson and her husband, Robert of Waterford, Patrick T. Murphy of Schenectady, John B. Murphy of Castleton, Mary Alice Murphy and her husband, Stephen Banbury of Albany, Karen J. Remington and her husband, J. Zachary of Danville, VT, Joseph C. Murphy of Menands and the late James F. Murphy; brother of Alicia Abbott and her husband of Brewster, MA, James Murphy and his wife, Barbara of E. Greenbush, Theresa Hayes of Valatie, and the late John J. Murphy; grandfather of Nicole, Ashley, Michael Jr., Bryan, Sarah Shae, Kelly, Amanda, Katlyn, Laura, J. Zachary Jr., Christopher and Darren; great-grandfather of Jennifer; also survived by several nieces, nephews and son, Michael Murphy of Illinois. Funeral services Friday 11:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Interment Holy Spirit Lutheran Cemetery, Glenmont.
