Woodrow W. Johnson, 86, of Amarillo died Saturday, April 12, 2003.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson was born Dec. 14, 1916, in Thalia where he farmed on the family farm and did carpentry work. He served in the Air Force during World War II as a mechanic on various fighter airplanes.

Upon his return to the United States, he worked as a sheet metal worker. He was a Christian and a longtime member of First Baptist Church. He was a good friend of former First Baptist Church pastors Carl Bates and Winfred Moore, having met them in Leesburg, Fla., during his military service days.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene; two brothers, R.E. Johnson of Amarillo and Bobby Dan Johnson of Marshall; and four sisters, Willa Mae Tucker of Vernon, Louise Price of Garland, Mary Joe Sullivan of Fisherville, Va., and Claudia Lou Niell of Oxnard, Calif.
