Soloman Vaught, born 1778, son of Mathias Vaught, Senior, and Mary Mercy Todd, died April 19, 1860. He was married to Angeline/Aderline Hughes. Soloman Vaught was an active member of the Providence Methodist Church, which he was instrumental in establishing. An old paper clipping of his death is as follows: "Departed this life, at Dogwood Neck, Upper All Saints Parish, S.C., April 19, 1860, in his 82nd year of age. Mr Vaught had been a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for more than forty years. He left a widow, three children, a number of grandchildren, and a large circle of friends and relatives to mourn his death. We trust that their loss is His gain. He was a very affectionate husband, a kind father and neighbor." Children born to Soloman and Angeline/Adeline Hughes Vaught were: Thomas C. Vaught, Nathan Albert Vaught, Mathias Vaught II, and Catherine Vaught Montgomery.
