John Smith is NOT buried here.
Jonetta Fayrene Davis Jones, great granddaughter of Samuel Briant applied for the marker and after receiving it, was NOT allowed to place it on his grave.
The cemetery was on private property and the owner was using it to farm. He was removing tombstones in order to plow it up and plant crops.
Jonetta brought it back home with her and asked permission to have it placed on the lot with her family. John is NOT known to be related to other Smith families in the cemetery at that time.
