John Drexel Phillips, 95, Bloomington, passed away Wednesday (Oct. 17, 2007) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal.

John was born July 27, 1912, son of William and Adah Roles Phillips in rural Colfax.

Surviving are two sons Robert (Becky) Phillips, Normal, and Larry Crummett, Bloomington; three daughters, Judy Wheat, Pontiac; and Sharon (Charles) Richard and Pat Wilkinson, both of Arrowsmith; 32 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives;–two sisters;–four brothers;–four daughters;–one grandson; and–one granddaughter.

John worked as a farmer in the Cooksville/Colfax area until he started at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, being a caretaker for the cemetery for around 25 years.

John is now reunited with his faithful companion, Penny, who also passed away Wednesday.

John was a loving father and grandfather who will be deeply missed.
