CROSBY, Donald Harris - 86, Richmond Road, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully August 25, 2003, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Although his health had been failing in the past few months, his death still came as a shock to his family and friends. Born in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late Horton and Bertha (Wetmore) Crosby. Donald was a member of the I.O.O.F., Federation of Agriculture, and an active member of New Life Church. He loved working in his vegetable gardens, raising beef cattle, operating his lathe mill, and fishing with his family at the lake. In his early years, Donald worked in the woods of
Caledonia-cutting and hauling pulpwood.
He is survived by his wife, Reta (Bain) Crosby, formerly of Wellington, Yarmouth Co .; 4 daughters; brothers, Ralph (Isabelle) Crosby, Port Colbourne, Ont.; Knowles (Elsie) Crosby, Yarmouth; sister, Seddie Balser, Digby; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Edgar, Vernon, Robert; sister, Bertha Ellis; infant son and daughter. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today in Sweeny's Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 28, in New Life Church, Pastor Larry Pennell officiating. Interment in Port Maitland-Beaver River Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the New Life Church Building Fund, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
