Funeral services for C. A. (Clovis) Austin, 67, who died at his home near Poplar Creek October 23, were held at Pine Bluff Church, October 25, at 10 a.m. conducted by his pastor, Rev. Clarence Burden, assisted by Rev. F. O. Martin, a former pastor of Tutwiler, and Rev. Dave Ellenburg. Interment in the church cemetery was under the direction of Lee Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were Barksdale Garner, Layden Ferguson, Odell Leonard, Vernon Austin, Holland Hambrick and Sonny Cook.
Mr. Austin, the son of late William and Lucretia McClure Austin, pioneer settlers of Montgomery County, was a member of the Baptist Church, prosperous farmer and good citizen. His wife preceded him in death in 1942.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Alvin Pullen, Mrs. A. T. Braswell and Mrs. Curtis Hovas, all of Poplar Creek; one son, Floyd Austin, Winona; one sister, Mrs. W. D. Hambrick, Greenwood; two brothers, H. E. Austin, Kilmichael, and Cleve E. Austin, Winona; a half-brother, Virgil Herring, Philadelphia, and seven grandchildren.
