Born in the hamlet of Fourdan, Marion came to Canada in about April of 1906 with her mother and young siblings. They joined her father who had preceded them in 1905. The family set about homesteading in the area of Makinak / Ochre River, MB [NE-14-23-16-W1 (50.988691, -99.600725)]. Her mother passed away less than 14 months after their arrival, leaving her father alone to raise the children.

Following her father's passing in 1923, Marianne worked for a time as a member of the dining room staff in the St Joseph's Orphanage and Vocational School in Winnipeg, MB. At the time, this institution was part of the network of residential schools put in place by the Canadian government with assistance from various churches and religious groups with the intent of "civilizing" the country's indigenous peoples.

Later, she was a long-time worker in the Sunnybrook Hospital complex in the GTA area. Upon retirement, she moved to the Windsor area to be near her relatives and their friends.
