In 1900 she and her husband, their six children, son-in-law Edgar Hunsicker, granddaughter Mable Hunsicker, and a farm laborer, 28-year-old Samuel Chisholm, lived on a farm they owned, with a mortgage, in Grant Township, Osage County, KS.

In 1910 she and James and a servant, 28-year-old Edna Splawn, lived in a hotel that they were running in Healy, KS. Edna also worked as a waitress in the hotel restaurant.

In 1920 she, her son Logan, his son Horace, and a servant, 54-year-old Mary Murry, lived in a house they owned, mortgage free, at 808 Main Street in Osage, KS.
