Vernon P. Hunt, whose Redlands California based truck lines once spanned the nation, died in a local hospital Saturday. He as 77. Hunt was a Wildwood Canyon rancher for more than 40 years, and gave scenic portions of his property to the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. His V.P. Hunt Transportation company, operating out of 620 E. Citrus Avenue and 1415 W. Central was widely known in the highway transport business. Hunt directed this enterprise for 40 years, between 1925 and 1965. He was a native of Kansas, but spent most of his life in Redlands before moving to upper Wildwood Canyon.
