Abigail Bouton Godfrey died shortly after the birth of her son Eliasaph David who was a member of Company C, 154th New York Infantry, United States Civil War.

The story of the graves of this mother and son is one of the most emotionally satisfying I've gotten myself into as many think they are buried together in Pleasant Valley Cemetery of Hinsdale, New York when neither are there.

I have not yet found Mrs. Godfrey's real grave in Mount View Cemetery of Olean, but on 30JAN1912 (his 70th birthday) Eliasaph positioned a cenotaph memorial to her in Pleasant Valley Cemetery of Hinsdale, NY as that's where his father David and other family members are interred. Even the online transcription adds Eliasaph "died" when he was 70 and is assumed to be there buried also, but he lived to be 95 and is with his wife Julia and at least one daughter in Glenwood Cemetery of Washington, D.C. where I learned from census records he worked a long time in the Veterans' Pension Office.

Members of the Godfrey family are still living well-known in Hinsdale, New York; I have hyperlinked Eliasaph to his mother ~ the only reunion I can provide them on Earth.
