Glen Alan Wheeler, 66 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, February 8th, 2021 following a short battle with cancer.

Glen was born in Ferguson, Kentucky on October 26th, 1954, son of the late Ruby Anderson Wheeler and Bolin Columbus Wheeler. He was a member of the Ferguson United Methodist Church where he served many roles, but the greatest of which was being a beacon of light for Christ and a staunch advocate for youth and children. He worked at South Midway Supply, Cumberland Electric, and Southside Electric. Glen had a passion for his career and forged many decades-long relationships with his customers and co-workers. Wheeler Brothers Softball Park was born in the summer of 1979 and operated for over 30 years. The relationships he cultivated were life-changing for him. He viewed it as his calling and prayed daily that through the Church leagues, others might find Christ. From youth group trips, to following the University of Kentucky Wildcats on away games, to coaching his beloved Tarcat softball team, to traveling to the Shenandoah Mountains and Gettysburg, to a beach trip in the fall of 2020, Glen crafted a life full of fun and love and Jesus. The legacy he leaves behind is one of joy and hope.

Glen was survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Venita Wheeler; one daughter, Paula (and her best friend, Steve) Christopher; three grandchildren, Mercedes Christopher, Braxton Wheeler, and Evie Wheeler; a bonus son, Bryan (and Heather) Wheeler; one sister, Nancy (and Charles Ed) Strunk; one brother, Bill (and Cindy) Wheeler; a brother-in-law, Larry Fisher; several nieces and nephews; teams full of softball players; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Wheeler, who departed this life on September 20th, 2006 and Bolin Columbus Wheeler, who departed this life on June 10th, 1965; four brothers, David Roy (and Jewell) Wheeler, Tommy Wheeler, Jody Wheeler, and Donnie (and Doris) Wheeler; and three sisters, Juanita (and James) Rutherford, Doris (and Sam) Zimmerman, and Margaret (and Jim) Price.

Visitations were held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 13th, 2021 at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 14th, 2021 in the Chapel of the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Clark and Bro. Bobby Sexton officiating.

Burial followed in the Somerset City Cemetery in Section 24, which is in front of the maintenance garage.
