Two children Sanford and Bertha. After Sarah died he married the widow of his wife's brother, Margaret McKibben Sanford.

He lived in Ohio until his father moved to Barry Co. Michigan in 1852. From then until he volunteered in the war he may have split his time between Ohio and Michigan. After the war he married and settled in Woodland, Barry, Michigan until 1880. In 1880 he took a trip west to visit his father and siblings in Colorado, scouting for new land as he went. He found nothing he preferred to Michigan and bought land in Central Lake, Antrim, Michigan, and farmed there until his death. His father lived with him for the last seven years of his life. His farm in Central Lake 1.7 miles east of US31 on M88 is still owned by his descendants. His name is on the big red barn. Come visit in the summer if you are related.
